Serializes Hostile Takeover: How Wall Street and Congress Took Over Healthcare — and How We Can Take It Back, a standalone investigation into private equity in healthcare, legislative capture, and the incentive structures that turned care delivery into a financial product. It's also available as a Kindle eBook, a Barnes & Noble audiobook, and on its own YouTube channel.
Not the same book as Behind the System
This standalone book is a separate, independent publication from Behind the System, Book Two of The American Healthcare Investigation trilogy — which was originally drafted under the working title "Hostile Takeover" before being renamed. The two are related only by that shared drafting history, not by content or series membership. How the two relate.

Unnecessary Deaths Substack
Weekly serialized chapters and healthcare policy breakdowns accompanying Unnecessary Deaths, a data-driven investigation into preventable harm within American healthcare systems. A companion volume, Unnecessary Deaths: A Thesis in Five Pillars, expands the book's argument around five converging failures driving preventable mortality today.
Not connected to When Science Became Political
When Science Became Political: The Crisis Inside NIH, CDC, and HHS is a separate, standalone investigation — it is not part of the Unnecessary Deaths series, despite the overlapping subject matter. Each book stands on its own, with its own sourcing and scope.
Why Publish This Way
Reading the investigation as it's built
Serialized publication means each chapter reaches readers before the book is finalized — a chance to follow the research and analysis as it develops, rather than only after it's bound into a finished edition. Both Substacks run alongside their books' Kindle and audiobook editions, not instead of them.
